Review-Muppets Most Wanted

Muppets Most Wanted is the latest installment of the Muppet movie franchise. The  movie takes place directly after the The Muppets(2011). The plot of the movie centers around a criminal mastermind named Constantine that looks like Kermit The Frog. Kermit and the rest of The Muppets decide, on the advice of Dominic Badguy (Ricky Gervais), to go on European Tour to capitalize on their latest success. When Constantine escapes out of prison, he takes Kermit's place and starts to plan heists on each stop on their tour. Kermit, on the other hand, mistakenly gets throw in prison with warden Nadya (Tina Fey) keeping a watchful eye on him. I like the movie but was not as good as the previous film. In the opening musical number, it mentions that the sequel is not as good as the first. This is a clever way of letting audiences know to just enjoy the film (almost like the theme to Mystery Science Theater 3000 does). The story is ok but seemed like a retelling of The Great Muppet Caper at times. The performances and the music is the glue that makes this movie good. Tina Fey and Ty Burrell give good performances as does Gervais(although his character is held down a little bit by the script). The musical numbers in this film were great and will have you wanting to watch this movie over again. There are so many enjoyable cameos in this movie but that is the norm for a Muppet movie. If you are a fan of the Muppets, you will love this movie. If you have never watched a Muppet movie, see the 2011 film before you go see this movie.

Review-Veronica Mars(2014)

Veronica Mars is the big screen debut/update of the popular television show that ran from 2004-2007. Before you ask, you can still watch  the movie without ever watching the show(but it is more enjoyable if you have). The story centers around Veronica Mars(Kristen Bell), who was a private investigator at the age of 18. Throughout high school and into college, it seems that trouble would follow wherever she went.  As Veronica moved away from her home town and the drama that surrounded her, her life got better. On the eve of her becoming a lawyer at a prestige law firm, her ex boyfriend Logan Echolls(Jason Dohring) is accused of murdering his girlfriend. The timing of helping clear his name and the school's ten year reunion draws Veronica back into the home town she tried to avoid. For those who were waiting for Veronica Mars to come to the theaters, you won't be disappointed. The movie structure flows so you can walk into it for the first time and not miss a beat. If you like a murder mystery with a lot of humor and charm into it, you should definitely watch Veronica Mars. For the fans of the show, there are a lot of returning faces and references made that will make you laugh and smile. There are times when certain scenes/actions taken might seem out of place but it won't stop you from enjoying the film.

Rating: 9.0 out of ten

P.S. If you  are a fan of the show Freaks and Geeks, there is a few hidden(or not so hidden) moments in the movie for you.

Review: The Lego Movie

The popularity of Lego has grow within the last ten years, since the introduction of the Lego video game series. The Lego Movie brings the fun and excitement of those games to the big screen. The original story centers around Emmet(voiced by Chris Pratt from Parks and Recreation) , an ordinary guy that is happy following the rules through life. His life is thrown a curve when he finds out he might be the "Master Builder" that can take down an evil ruler called Mr. Business(voiced by Will Ferrell). This leads Emmet on a quest, alongside Wildstyle(voiced by Elizabeth Banks) and Vitruvius(voiced by Morgan Freeman), to save the Lego Universe. The Lego Movie is one of the best animated movies that I have seen in recent years. It has so many level of entertainment to it that it is hard not to love this movie. It is fun, energetic and has a heart. The kids will have fun from the opening song(which they will sing long after the movie is over) to the end. The adults will love the amount of stars that provided voices in the movie(Liam Neeson, Alison Brie, Will Arnett, etc). Both will enjoy the amount of recognizable characters throughout the film. This movie is for everyone and will have you with a bigger smile on your face than you entered the theater with.

Quick review-Dads(TV series)

Dads is a new television series from Seth MacFarland, creator of Family Guy. This one is a comedy starring Seth Green and Giovanni Risibi as two game developers that can't get rid of their dysfunctional dads out of their life or their house. Based of the episode, I laughed about three times out of the whole half hour. The premise is more fit for a movie than a television series. Going through more episode of the same  premise is not giving this show enough room to grow.

Rating of the first episode: 5 out of 10.

Review-Riddick

In 2000, the movie Pitch Black introduced the world to Vin Diesel as an action star with his portrayal of the character Riddick. In 2013, Diesel is back for the third time as the title character in the movie Riddick. In the movie, Riddick is left for dead on an unfamiliar planet. On one side, he has to fight off the elements and the creatures inhabiting the planet. On the other side, he has to deal with two incoming ships informed of his whereabouts and the bounty that is on his head. They are looking to capture Riddick dead or alive, all for different reasons. The movie Riddick will remind you a lot of Pitch Black, also for different reasons. It starts off slow but not in a bad way. It's more like a 70's scifi film type of way, where the slow beginning is there to get you ready for the ride coming up. David Twohy, director of the first two films, is back to direct third film. There are a couple of cheesy characters but if you love scifi films, this is one you must see. Vin Diesel shines in the movie and there are scenes in the film  that make you say "Wow, that just happened".   This movie is definitely not for kids.
