Quick Review-Red Band Society(TV show)

Red Band Society is a new television about a group of teenagers that live in the same hospital.  Each teen has their own back story and condition that keeps them there. The narration for each episode so far is done by a teenage boy who is in a coma. The way it is explained through the episodes makes it a worthwhile choice. The show works on many different levels like that. They even make the overused "mean girl cheerleader" cliche work. The most noticeable member of this good cast is Octavia Spencer, who won an Oscar for her role in The Help. She plays Nurse Jackson, the head nurse at the hospital whose known for being tough but caring. The show has heart and I would recommend people to give it a chance to see how you like it.

Review- How to Train Your Dragon 2

How to Train Your Dragon 2 is the sequel to the much loved original that came out in 2010. The movie takes place five years  after the events of the first film. Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) and his dragon Toothless, just like the others in the village, have developed a special bond during those tranquil years. The peaceful times are threatened when Hiccup and Astrid (voiced by America Ferrera) discover a plot to capture all the dragons.  Our heroes' path in protecting the dragons will cross a mysterious Dragon Rider and menacing Drago (voiced by Djimon Hounsou), which are both connected to Hiccup's dad Stoick (voiced by Gerald Butler). How to Train Your Dragon 2 is an amazing film and even better than the first. The animation is breathtaking and the movie has a good mixture of humor and action to it. The movie's theme of protecting the ones you love against terrifying menace has similarities to The Dark Knight (but not as dark). I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone. If you do get an opportunity to see it in 3D, please do. It is well worth it.

Review-Godzilla(2014)

Godzilla(2014) is another telling of the classic character, described as "king of the monsters", that has appeared in films  since 1954. The particular film starts off with a nuclear accident in which the cause of it was never found out. Joe Brody(Bryan Cranston) makes it his crusade to find the truth of what really happen on that day. His son Ford(played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson) thinks that his dad, because of personal reasons, is chasing a fantasy. Ford soon finds out that his dad is right when the discovery of monsters starts to show up across the world.  Dr. Ishiro Serizawa(played by Ken Watanabe), a scientist whose been studying these activities, suggest the way the defeat these monsters is with a monster named Godzilla, who acts to restore balance and defend these ruthless creatures. Godzilla(2014) was a really good that will keep audiences connected from start to finish. The movie does a good job connecting the classic Toho films and ignoring the forgettable big screen attempt in the 1990's. The story is good but there are some small things in the movie that might make you scratch your head. Those moments are small and not enough to persuade your opinion of the movie in any way. The action stays on a even pace until Godzilla shows up. The last one third of the movie is amazing.

Review-Muppets Most Wanted

Muppets Most Wanted is the latest installment of the Muppet movie franchise. The  movie takes place directly after the The Muppets(2011). The plot of the movie centers around a criminal mastermind named Constantine that looks like Kermit The Frog. Kermit and the rest of The Muppets decide, on the advice of Dominic Badguy (Ricky Gervais), to go on European Tour to capitalize on their latest success. When Constantine escapes out of prison, he takes Kermit's place and starts to plan heists on each stop on their tour. Kermit, on the other hand, mistakenly gets throw in prison with warden Nadya (Tina Fey) keeping a watchful eye on him. I like the movie but was not as good as the previous film. In the opening musical number, it mentions that the sequel is not as good as the first. This is a clever way of letting audiences know to just enjoy the film (almost like the theme to Mystery Science Theater 3000 does). The story is ok but seemed like a retelling of The Great Muppet Caper at times. The performances and the music is the glue that makes this movie good. Tina Fey and Ty Burrell give good performances as does Gervais(although his character is held down a little bit by the script). The musical numbers in this film were great and will have you wanting to watch this movie over again. There are so many enjoyable cameos in this movie but that is the norm for a Muppet movie. If you are a fan of the Muppets, you will love this movie. If you have never watched a Muppet movie, see the 2011 film before you go see this movie.
